Engineering Technician

Job Summary

The Engineering Tech will provide technical engineering support for the Hydraulics and powertrain departments as well as associated processes through all phases of product development and remanufacturing.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Assist in maintaining a safe working environment for all employees in the facility, including leading efforts in process design where needed.
  • Provide production support to the hydraulics and powertrain departments.
  • Coordinate and manage new product introduction activities.
  • Lead improvement and cost reduction projects for hydraulics and powertrain.
  • Assist in standardization and reorganization projects.
  • Developing and documenting work standards and specifications for assembly, disassembly, salvage, and testing processes. This includes training technicians on the new processes where applicable.
  • Develop Bills-of-Material with expected parts replacement ratios to assist in quotation process and manufacturing.
  • Work with the quality department in identifying and validating vendors

Other Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provides technical advice and disposition on Non-conforming parts or products.
  • Provides necessary technical information to make repairs or judgments on salvaged parts.
  • Works with OEMs and customers to obtain customer requirements.
  • Assist in Capital purchases
  • Completes PPAP and associated documentation.
  • Provides technical or engineering support to customers or OEM’s service organization.
  • Adheres to all safety guidelines, and uses Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) preventing incidents or injury to self or others.
  • Maintains a clean and orderly work area for safe operation as well as customer presentation.
  • Performs work according to the highest quality standards to produce a superior end product, meeting or exceeding customer expectations.
  • Participates in and supports the principles of Open Book Management.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Skills & Abilities

  • Possesses a High level of mechanical aptitude and a detailed working knowledge of Hydraulics and powertrain components, including part evaluation, salvage and testing.
  • Ability to read and create blueprints, including interpretation of GD&T callouts.
  • Ability to use and specify all types of mechanical measuring devices.
  • Possesses remanufacturing/rebuild knowledge of piston pumps, travel motors, FT motors, HST and HSS components, gear pumps, swing motors, torqueflow transmissions, torque convertors, final drives, differentials, wet brakes, final drives .
  • Possesses the ability to use CSS, Syteline 8 and other software as needed
  • Possesses interpersonal and teambuilding skills to move projects to completion.
  • Competent oral and written communication skills
  • Computer proficiency with Excel, Word, and Outlook.

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience of building and testing Hydraulic components essential
  • Knowledge of powertrain desirable

Physical Requirements Essential to Perform the Duties of the Job

  • Frequently remains in sitting position to perform duties at desk and on computer.
  • Occasionally communicates with employees to provide technical advice and product requirements for pricing.
  • Occasionally lifts and moves products with weight up to 60 pounds.
  • Seldom lifts and moves products and heavy material weighing over 60 pound with assistance.
  • Frequently remains in a standing position to perform functions and duties.
  • Frequently analyzes product parts to determine needs and pricing expectations.
  • Frequently views computer and technical equipment to perform required documentation.
  • Occasionally stoops, kneels, or bends to move products.
  • Occasionally climbs stairs, ladders, and equipment to analyze products.
  • Never exposed to outside elements.
